We took a day trip around Lake Chapala to see some Canadians.
We took off to the other side of the lake on my birthday to go see the Canadian White Pelicans at Petatan.
Petatan is not a tourist haunt but a working fishing village. These Pelicans are living the dream – not only getting out of the Canuckian cold – but fed daily and well by the returning fishermen.
They are considered to be one of the largest birds of North America, with a wingspan between 1.5 and 3 meters (5 and 10 feet) and weighing as much as 7 kilos (15 pounds). Massive.
